ADCA is raising bull registration prices to $75. They are claiming it is not about the money. They are saying it is to detour bull registration and influence prices. There was even a statement made by an ADCA insider that bull registrations should be limited to a small percentage of the heifers you register. That would not allow small breeders to register any bulls. Is this a group you want to be a member of? One that sits on a pile of money and raised fees and attempts to control the market to their liking by trying to price the little guy out of the registry.

Mike, detour is an alternate route when the regular route is closed (rockfall, construction work, etc.); deter is to discourage.
In England there's about six heifers registered to every bull. In the US, it's almost one to one.
It used to be everyone registered everything and only ate the calf if they couldn't find a buyer, quality be damned. That's one reason you see so many really unattractive animals out there, no selection for breeding qualities. England has (had) a five-tier program of desirability for registration to help people pick what to eat and what to use for breeding. Nothing to do with how many animals. All about quality.
You are breeding for quality within a small framework. Good for you. Cheers, Carol.

Just for clarification....the price increase for bulls is "proposal" nothing has been done yet!!! This is a e-mail sent to ADCA membership in my region by my director. This is only part of what was said.
"There are some proposals by the task force I am on and want to ensure I am representing you effectively. The main point of contention is the increase in bull registration. Please read ALL of the proposals and provide me your thoughts. Feel free to call me if you would prefer to discuss live. Many breeders have come to various board members asking for something done on all of these topics. We are trying to find the right middle ground. I look forward to your thoughts. "
Yes the ADCA is an association I am a member of.

Well, it MUST be rather iffy out there if it has to be qualified as only being a "proposal". LOL. It is just another example of the dreadful leadership that ADCA keeps promoting.
STOP supporting ADCA. You don't have a single right or a voice now. The Oligarchy rewrote the bylaws and removed your rights. If that bothers you. .. . . WALK. . . . . . . if not. . . . . . reconcile you will do exactly as they say, and that includes their control over your Dexter business interests.
( AND. . . . . . you might give some thought to understanding that being able to register your Dexters without someone controlling your choices is in your best interest). Judy
