Worrisome. Parents tested non PHA ( although there is a PHA carrier in both parents bloodlines and there are certain labs I would absolutely not trust the life/death of my herd to!) I have a photo of two other calves that look like this born three years ago that were tested non PHA. If you are reading this. . . . and you have had a calf that resembles this in any way. . . . please let ME know, and let the P&G committee of your association know it. (With ME . . . . it will not be hidden as PHA was by P&G) Judy

I hope this was taken to a qualified lab. A good vet would be able to recommend one for this or, at the least, take sample for analysis. It might be inconvenient to do this, but it's absolutely necessary!!!

Looks like Abortion.... It could be something as simple as a mineral deficiency, especially phosphorus or iodine. Are these cows being fed a mineral mix containing phosphorus and iodine? "Purina Wind and Rain" is a good mix.

Don't know heritage of cattle involved but Ohio has had a horrible year in the hog industry with up to 60% litter lose from either aborted, deformed, or 1 - 5 day old deaths. Last I knew Indiana had band of Ohio hog transfers. No one seems to have answers yet. News tonight said in Texas as many 100 may have been exposed to ebola.
