Edited to add: you are absolutely right, more animals should be culled including the polled reds. Lets not forget a dun cow with a blown udder.
And you wonder why people wont warm to reporting their [PHA or Chondro] results when information which should be useful and educational is used as a weapon just as you have done here.

Donlindexters I just have to ask, just what does the comment you quoted of mine have to do with reporting of chondro or PHA.
Buy the way the original post (which was not made by me) was posted on the largest cattle forum here in the U.S. If you care to visit the forum here is a link to site. www.cattletoday.com/forum/ I guess everything Hans has said about what I breed is ok with you? Plus the posting of my website without my permission solely to retaliate against another breeder on this site was ok with you. Unless you understand the totality of our conversation it might be better to stay out of it.
edited to add: some breeders DO report the carrier status of their animals, I have NEVER seen it used against them, in fact just the opposite. It's the people that don't test and sell off untested animals that get a bad rap and rightly so.

Hi Hollyrockranch! Glad to see folks looking for traditional Shorties out here, the more demand, the better odds for breeders and people like me who can't find them.
Like Fireflies, Those short legged Dexters can't seem to make it over the Rockies!
I'm sorry to say that if it's Traditional horned shorties you want, you'll find them in the East (of here anyway.) I'm figuring I'll have to take a long road trip with a cattle trailer!
I am in Northern California, where all the Dexters are Modern Polled, mostly red, non chondro. There are some quality breeders for those types here, but alas! that's not what I desire to breed.
Where are you located?( state or county? not address...) I can send the names of local breeders if you like. If you find any shorties, PLEASE let me know!
Welcome aboard! Bill

Im not interested in postings on other forums - just this one Legendrockranch
And if you dont want your 'conversations' read and interpreted as they are written – then you should pick up the phone or send an email instead of posting to this public and international forum!

Hi, Lonecowhand thanks. I am in Okanogan county WA. Do you have a web-site or facebook? I have pictures of my Dexters on my facebook @ hollyrockranch. I am a little computer illiterate so I am unable to put pictures on this board, when I try it said pictures to big and I do not know how to small them down, sorry or I would share. Don't get me wrong I love my long legged Dexter's they are sweet harts and top of the line cattle, but I would Like at least one rill shorty to add to my herd.

Donlindexters your lack of interpretation I'm sure is do to the fact that do not live here in the U.S.
1. I wasn't saying for you to post on that other forum ONLY that it was the largest cattle forum where Hans animal was posted with the remarks about here udder.
2. I assume you have no comment about what I said earlier "I guess everything Hans has said about what I breed is ok with you? Plus the posting of my website without my permission solely to retaliate against another breeder on this site was ok with you?
Let's not forget the only reason I am still on this forum is because of Hans using my website here for what I feel is a despicable reason. If you have a problem with me being here take it up with him.
What do you have to say about that?

Doesn't seem to have much to do with the requested info on this thread. Barb , do you know anyone who has Dwarf Dexters out West, maybe that they want to sell instead of cull? You may have connections we don't. I'd drive quite a ways to take them off their hands! Thanks Bill

Thanks Barb,Really Far West! I am in Northern Calif. and Hollyrockranch is in Washington State. I am going to need to drive across most of this fair country, it seems. I know there are a few breeders in Colorado, but haven't heard of any closer. Mostly , I will be concerned about how far a cow can travel in a cattle trailer without compromising her health. Any ideas about that? I've traveled across country many times , but not in a trailer, and I bet it's not near as fun!

Bill there's a real pretty polled red carrier cow for sale in Washington State now that has been trained to milk. Not sure if polled is a no/no for you or not plus I'm not sure of her price. Like you I also know of several breeders in Colorado, one possible in Oregon. I'll just have to more thinking about it. If you like please leave me you phone number and I'll give you a call (pm me). I know one breeder in Colorado who just loves to do searching she would be a good person to contact.

Hollyrockranch,
So many of the new cameras brag about how many megapixels they can record. That is what is making your photos too large to post on the forums.
For the purpose of posting here, you can change the setting of your camera to its lowest resolution, 640 x 480 or 1 megapixel. You can't tell the difference on your computer screen and the files are easily handled.
You will eventually notice the improvement in your own viewing of the files. They load faster. Your email list will appreciate it, too. Especially those with slow connections.
The higher resolutions from your camera are useful only if you are making enlargements. Really big enlargements.
