This is nonsense, and if there is anything in the US that needs to be fixed it is the abuse of the legal system. I wish every citizen would scream for tort reform.
There are two nonsense court cases in the works which will be sending me checks. I just received the one from a class-action suit against ATT. The case was based on sales tax on internet usage. Don't get me wrong. If I was being charged unfairly, then I should receive a refund. However, class-action lawyers who change down these huge settlement cases, reap ALL the benefits other than the teeny checks received by the consumers need to be controlled.
My ATT check was FIFTEEN cents. It came in the mail. Information advising me of the class action and my inclusion also came in the mail. The cost of the mailing alone were 5-6 times the amount of the settlement check.
This nonsense costs ALL of us dearly and the only winners are the legal firms chasing these nonsense suits. I wish Americans would start demanding the legal swamp be cleaned.

The goal of the class action suits (other than lining the lawyers pockets) it to get the company to stop what ever action needs to be reformed. I'm not sure what the solution is.

Quote: "This settlement represents your (pro-rata) settlement amount results from the resolution of the AT&T Mobility Wireles Data Servicces Sales Tax Litigation".
My fifteen cents check covers taxes I suppose I was not supposed to be charged from 2005 to 2010. FIFTEEN cents. Why weren't ALL the taxes I paid and which I should not have been charged refunded? Where's "my" justice? In the pockets of lawyers I would opine.
My opinion: These suits are meant to enrich the law firms, not bring justice to those the lawsuit represents.
We really, really, need tort reform in this country.
