When I can be found surrounded by fresh garden tomatoes that I beg, buy, barter, and sometimes. . . . . ."borrow".
There is nothing I treasure much more than a fresh tomato from the garden.
This week I managed to land tomatoes from two states and four different gardens. Heaven! I learn again each year how different the taste ( but all very delicious) depending on the soil and locality, and I suppose the weather.
This is my favorite summer snack.
1 fresh tomato. 1 fresh ripe peach. Cut into medium /small chunks on plate. ( season with salt if you like salt on your tomatoes and I do!). Then liberally sprinkle all with parmesan cheese. This is so good you really have to sip the leftover juice and lick the plate!

German Pinks here. And they are wonderful!! With the rain we have had this season the plants are over my head.
I will have to try that Judy. It is the classic BLT here. Especially with home made bread. Another goodie - tomato/cucumber salad with Grandma's dressing. Mmmmmmmm

When I was a kid the neighbors down the lane always had fresh biscuits with each meal. ( My Mom only rarely made biscuits). Once when I was hanging around at lunch time, the mother handed me a biscuit with a fresh tomato slice in the middle. I would always find excuses to walk towards their house around lunch time.
A neighbor called me yesterday to see if I wanted some tomatoes. ( I never refuse a tomato). He had tomatoes everywhere, and his crepe myrtle trees were drooping in blooms. I don't think I've ever seen so many blooms on crepe myrtles before. I related earlier in the year how full my cherry trees were, and my homestead apple trees are so full the apples will never be able to grow to full size! You are right Karrie, everything here in the mid-Atlantic has had prolific blooms and fruit this year. Somehow, I have a niggling feeling it bodes warning for winter.
