I need a portable head gate ! I've watched for a used one but have only seen one, in dreadful condition, and expensive.
I have a livestock trailer which was about to become a rolling chicken house, still movable but just barely road worthy. Would work fine to move without animals in it. Would it be possible to take out the interior gate, and install a head gate in it's place? Or: could I have someone skilled in welding cut out enough of the gate and then add reinforcing metal or pipe to which I could bolt a head gate? If it's feasible to accomplish would it be feasible in cost?
This has to be a brilliant idea waiting for someone with welding or metal working experience to give it a push forward, right? Laughing.

probably not to hard to weld up a gate. I made my own head gate from scratch. I would have concerns that you may not have strong enough attachment points in the trailer to support the gate. The other issue would be how usable it is probably not the easiest to get the cows in the trailer just to put them in a head gate. and you may cause them to fear going into the trailer which would not be good. as far as feasibility. welding is slow hard work. It would probably cost a small fortune to have it done and I am not close enough to do it for you. i could easily see it taking me several days to do something like that.
