Jackson is now 17 months old. He is putting on fat, now.
He will be ready for the freezer just in time for the 2015 ADCA AGM.
I told Chad Williams that I would provide a side of Dexter beef to be cooked at the show. He has another Dexter lined up, also, and a cook whose name you might recognize to prepare the beef.
Jackson is a nice looking steer. He is A2/A2 and pretty well conformed. He's a son of Brenn. However, on his dam's side he carries Lucifer, so he became a steer.
Jackson is different from all the rest of the bulls that have grown here. He's a shortie, but acts less like a shortie than any others. He has been here quite a while, but has made no friends in the herd. He spends his time around the edge of the herd until he sees me, then he comes running. Always hungry. Really hungry! He can't wait for me to feed him, he wants to get a bite before I can set it down. He's rough on a bale of hay, tearing it apart like a bull instead of a steer.
He's not much over 36" tall. He's going to make some really small cuts of beef.
For years other people have been eating beef that was sired by Brenn and bragging about how good it was. I had never had even a small bite of Brenn's offspring's beef. Finally I am. I'm looking forward to it.
