Winter had been kind to us up until now. Recent snows laying in place have now caused the pastures to become soft and boggy.
The areas where the cattle hang out is turning into a soupy mess. Where I was wearing low top gardening shoes, I'm now wearing high top rubber boots.
What's your preference? Pants legs in or out of the boots? I prefer them outside, but my bride wants me to wear them inside. My way gets mud on the cuffs and causes her a problem.
Things were aggravated a little when two new Legacy cows came to be re-bred to Titian. They brought their young calves by Titian with them. That means 16 more hooves churning the mud.
Who has the best solution for living with the mud?
My automatic waterer is always clean. It has a 25' square section of paving cloth around it, covered with coarse gravel. The cattle come for a drink, then leave. They don't hang out on those stones.
However, that is not an option in most places, so I'd appreciate any hints at how to minimize the mud without making it unbearable for the cattle or putting me in the poor house.

I hate mud season more than anything.
looks like there will be at least a weeks reprieve coming up. Temps here next week will be below freezing and the longest sustained cold of the winter. Like spring yesterday with snow still on the ground.
