Dying one day at a time.
Got several straws, I think the last of it in North America, so hoarding it.
I won't just hand over something precious for casual interest. What's up???

Good that you are well. Had not seen you about for a while.
i do not need Saturn Carol. He has a Legacy genotype. I would like his sire genotype. Just an interest in Sylvan Ebony since he has a non-black calf on record.

Have you tried asking the DCS for a sample from their long term semen bank?
Statenboro Saprophyte has had one dun heifer, Sheriley Juniper registered. It's not red, or Woodmagic brown, nor is it the usual dilute suspects found in Highland, Galloway, etc. And in the US, Anton of Mt. Carmel was dun, not red. Nothing in his background has woodmagic in it so it's not the 'bb' at TYRP1.
Thoughts from the tide pools of Vancouver Island. c.

Carol
No, have not asked. I have tried to find used straws that owners may have kept with paperwork. No luck.
Thanks for that info on saphrophyte.
By the way, I tested Anton for color and he WAS b/b.
Still gathering info on the dun that is NOT testing as dun, and results on a few. Most US breeders do not test for dun. They test for red on non-black animals, so there could be some of those that will not test as dun stateside of which there is no record. Helen Dixon had a line of very dark brownish “duns”, that always piqued my interest. There were others out there as well, but there is only so much time and even less money.
Carol, I am sincerely sorry to hear you you had to undergo that vile chemo. You might find the book, “I Used To Have Cancer” interesting. I listened to author once on “Coasr To Coast AM radio, and found his story quite interesting. He was terminal at one time.

Anton was bb? great. I was thinking there were several dun alleles, and that Woodmagic was one of them. Having Anton 'bb' changes that and solves another mystery. The 'other' dun is actually a dilute of black but not related to highland etc. dilutes. Do you have any hair from Helen Dixon? I think Dean and Rosemary had some of the 'other' duns, too.
I seldom boast, so have incurable (so far) cancer, Stage IV, the med system doesn't have the chemicals to fool the body into thinking the switch is turned off, so am taking other on-going chems to eat the cancer cells as they materialize. Was given three years, three years ago, still going strong, cancer has disappeared in several organs, and more or less on hold in others, they've extended their guess to two more years. I'm also involved with a naturopath who specializes in mitigating the effects of chemo, and doing Reike. I'm just pissed off I had to waste the three years waiting for Covid to be over so I could travel again.
cheers, c.
