This is the preface found in the beginning of Herd book # 1 which details the beginnings of the organization of the Kerry and Dexter breeds in Ireland.
From reading it. . . how to you think they determined which cows were Kerry and which were Dexter?

By the turn of the horns shall we know them? By the shortness of Hocks? It seems that Dexters could have been named "Lord Hawarden Cows" or "Tipperary Beeves"! How Regal sounding is that? The author describes the "spirit of improvement" rather tongue in cheek, it seems to have been taken to heart in some circles!
