Barb,
You are simply being argumentative. If this were any other animal in the breed you would be just as conscientious with the information.
Carol Davidson has reported that Jupiter of Knotting the sire of Lucifer had a problematic disposition. It is written on two different chat groups that I know of.
Sandy Thomas related information herself about being treed by her bull and having him destroyed. I heard about this bull first also from Mr. Chesterley.
Phil Martz was the purchaser of Lucifer of Knotting, and it was from him I first learned that Lucifer had been shot while being transported to his farm in PA and the circumstances.
Mark Weber told me, ( unsolicited for I had called him for information on something else) that when he was owner of Glencara Finerty the bull was a problem and that on one occasion he went nuts and tore up his farmyard.
PRM Chester is the bull that was owned by a person I knew and that is the bull that I would not go in the field with.
The young bull in Va that flipped out and was absolutely "loco" to use Mr. Chesterley's descriptive term ( and whose actions mirrored those he used to describe another bull from Lucifer) was off a PRM cow bred down from Lucifer via PRM Redder. The calf was never registered but it is interesting to note the sire was a Lucifer descendent that did not show any signs of bad disposition. Maybe he was carrying recessive or the cow was carrying recessive.
Those are specific instances I can think of at the moment. There have been a number of others through they years reported on chat groups, just as Mike related here today. I am willing to bet you if you begin calling owners of Lucifer offspring and owners of immediate descendents you will find instances of more. Like I said. .. at one time I had a list of 14 that were mentioned just in talk groups
The reason it is important to discuss this and relate this information is because Dexter bulls are MARKETED as being gentle with pleasing and friendly dispositions so folks are NOT as careful or watchful as owners in other breeds with known problematic males. When there is a bull known to have offspring and other descendents that are problematic with the same traits of bad behavior exhibited repeatedly. . . . .then one cannot be party to it being covered up or glossed over. Let me repeat. . . it is NOT every offspring or every descendent, but there are too many not to be careful of a recessive gene that pops up here and there.
