OK. I am feeling guilty for pounding on ADCA a little bit again. The truth is. ... . I have lots of things I criticise about ADCA. . . . and I have residual antipathy because of what I believed to be really dirty acts by some previous members of leadership ( and some current ones) who took it to a level they should not have visited. So when I think they deserve it I take my shot.
There are new members on the board in leadership that I do not know and I find no fault with . I hope against hope but experience warns me. . . . .. There are some that are not quite as new that I "waited to see", but I am a slight bit disappointed that what I see in ADCA is what we see in DC. A fresh-faced newly elected Congressman heads off to the capital. . . fully believing and fully intending to be a voice and a vote for good and for change. And quickly he learns otherwise. He learns where the power lies. . . . and he learns to do as he is told in the important stuff. . . . . when the vote has to be there. . .. . or be destroyed. ADCA is a little bit like that. There is a power hub that has spoken with the same voice for way too long. I am very critical. . . because I do not feel there has been leadership for the breed or it's owners. But more on that another day.
What most do not know is that I encourage people to join and participate in the association of their choice. I think they are important and vital to the breed . .. . . . . if they do their job and LEAD. Placing the breed first and the owners/breeders right behind is the job of the associations and I don't think either have done that so so not think for a minute I will stop pushing them! And yes. ... . I think Legacy has fomented the most important changes to date in this breed which included genotyping, the use of the top lab in America for testing, and prices that were half the going rate which now everyone offers because Legacy forced competition. That ADCA has evolved and met the challenges shows an ability to forge forward so I still hope.
