Ok I am confused and it was a short trip, I have only tested and thought registered with Legacy. Sent money to A D C A for testing, registration, and membership. Never got registration due to bull registered with P D C A . What is the proper thing to do for the sake of Traditional and Legacy Dexters ? Maybe not exactly be it seems a person can spend as much testing , registering , ect as a Dexter can cost . Sorry but being self employed uncle sam just cost me more than two NICE Dexters this quarter and Im not done yet.

I'm sure Judy will help walk you through. I'm a bit confused about the ADCA part of it. The bull is registered with the PDCA I gather?
And I hear you about the costs of testing registering, etc...and having my own business, the tax thing too!
I figure I'm already on the radar, so I make sure to take advantage of every possible deduction, depreciation, sales tax ag exemption, etc...that is out there. I only wish I could claim them as dependents!

we do registration and testing with Legacy. When that is done then I register with the ADCA. The exception Is one polled line I have I just register them with ADCA. All bulls out of that line are steered. So it is only the females that get registered. As far as what testing needs to be done that depends on your situation. I have PHA in my heard so every calf out of a PHA cow gets tested. As far as chondro we tested the ones that we thought might have had any chance of it but sadly none of mine are dwarfs. Any test beyond that are just a matter of preference.

This started with test our bull calf and his name. Our cows father is not genotyped with ADCA so they still took my money and provided test with guess who and applied membership and no other refund so I should be a lifetime member now. We also have PHA so I want to test that , condo , and with all the red/dun in our pedigrees and all the fuss with red I am thinking (know it is not possible) but there is a good chance for condo and what if red. So I want to thourghly test him before I steer him. I did not test cow for red did not understand . I still am working on getting pictures up . Here is my view of them now Cow - 35" at hind on level ,600 -700 deep dark red brown curly coat ( Love those bangs ) full bodied needs to develop wider mid area , udder dropped about 6" but she is only 22 month old hoping those thing still develop . The bull calf 4 month old 22" high , legs about 10 " tall , bulky built , head already looks like bull , both are very level on top line , same coat but slightly darker . The area inside legs is almost a 2/3 rectangle it appears different then his dam . So I don't really whant registered yet. Hans be careful I just got straighted out . Its not fun . Thank God for great accountants and my wife .

for your bull if I understand correctly he is pdca and it sounds like his genotype is now on file with there lab. If so you will not have any issues registering calves from him with the adca. His info still shows in there pedigrees. it will just show his pdca reg number instead of the adca. the calves will look like this one dextercattle.org/pedigreedb/ponyweb.cgi?horse=030615&OwnerName=mendenhall&SearchFor=1&Page=1&Sort=0as you can see the pedigree is complete. If you click on the dam Tully you will see her info just shows the pdca number.
