....... who are your lucky six we see munching hay? ......
They are Legacy Eve, Jackson, McBrenn, Bambi, Bambina (hidden behind her), and Brenn, just arriving. He's late, as usual, but he will still get his place at the bale and end up eating more than any of the others. It's all about your status within the herd.

Your bull Kirk looks to be a fair bit larger than Mike's bull Magic.

Your bull Kirk looks to be a fair bit larger than Mike's bull Magic. He was 43" on his 3rd birthday. How big is Magic?

Nice looking bull , Thanks for sharing! Is he registered, and if so who do you register with over there? Can you tell us about him? He's registred at Holland Dexter, our Dutch society. I imported him from Belgium as he was 4 months old. His sire was bred in Belgium out of 2 English cows. You can find him as M5569 in the English online herdbook. (Moomin/statenboro and Knotting lines behind him) His mothers sire is Kongehojs Haddock known as M4025. There is a lot of Woodmagic blood in this bull. His mothers dam was Saksenstate Lobke, known as F13106, with a Dutch/Belgium pedigree which leads back to old Doesmead lines from imports in the late sixties. He is not polled, no polled lines in his pedigree. There is 1% upgrading in his bloodlines (due to appendix scheme in the UK). He carry's red and dun. He is very calm and easy to handle. His progeny is always smaller and calmer than their mothers. He has produced 22 calfes so far. I had to sell him because I had 3 heifer calves from him and (at that time) no place for more than one bull. He is now running with 12 nice Dexter ladies. I'm happy he has a chance there to gives thru his good genes.

I really like it that you are able to say "His progeny is always smaller and calmer than their mothers".
Besides their small size, the most often cited reason for someone wanting to buy a Dexter from me is their gentleness. Keep up the good work.

I think this competition is just promoting the fight between polled, horned, colors, short legged and long legged. I my opinion it should be about all the breed standards and good conformation of Dexter bulls in general. Lets please try not to exclude any Dexter breeder, the fact is they all are proud owners of this wonderful breed. In my opinion it should say enter your best Dexter bull photo contest. I am just making an observation and not trying to offend.

Yeah, Hollyrockranch , I thought about that, also the fact that most folks aren't likely to breed their own bulls! But the original thread was supposed to simply be a spot to brag about YOUR bull and why you think he's great. You can see what transpired, and how quickly it was hijacked. I wasn't on for a whole weekend, and it escalated into an arguement. My initial modifier of a "traditional" bull had two-fold purpose, the first selfish, in that I want to see good examples of that type because that's what I'm shopping for; and the second, to avoid an avalanch of examples of animals not owned by posters. I've actually been thinking about opening it up for a week or so. We did get some good examples , just not the kind of 'justification' dialog I'd been hoping for. I'll keep it going, after all I haven't figured out the perfectly useless prize yet, nor how to get it to the lucky(?) winner! Bill P.S. Since I cant change a THREAD name, perhaps I should start a similar Modern Dexter Bull Photo contest! and open them both up to your own bull , not that you've necessarily bred yourself. What do you think?

I think that would be a good idea, a spot for everyone to show off their pride for the Dexter breed. And lets do one of 2015 babies! Everyone loves babies. Thanks
