I have three calves to register. Got all my paperwork completed, made copies, wrote a check and mailed the large envelope off to the Missouri address on May 20. My receipt from the PO said it should arrive in Missouri on May 23.
Having heard nothing, today I contacted the Registrar who emailed me that she had not received it. I went back to the PO where the clerk told me I was out of luck because they had no way to track regular first class mail, even with a receipt. I'd have to wait 30 days for it to show up or have it returned to me.
Home again to prepare new copies and write another check to replace the "lost" one. Then I get a second email from the Registrar telling me that the mail in Missouri is bundled once a week and SENT TO HER IN TEXAS FOR PROCESSING and that she would probably receive it next Tuesday (June 2)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm awaiting her response to my email asking if i might send it direct to her in Texas.
How does one define INEFFICIENT?
Forgive my rant, but I'm frustrated and angry and had to vent.

yep and if you didnt fill something in correct or forgot something. You will just get everything mailed back to you in a month or so along with a generic sheet of paper saying why it was sent back. Oh ya if they send anything sometimes they just claim they returned it and you never get anything back.

The ADCA has a VERY efficient modern online process, but you're choosing to use the old 1957-style manual snail-mail process and then complaining because the post office lost your mail?
I've submitted bunches of registrations and transfers online, electronically, and had them completed in a day or two... very fast and very efficient. If you need help, I can call you and walk you through the very simple online process.
The ADCA registration process is very simple and very fast.

Kirk, I am familiar with their online process, but I chose to use snail mail because of the attachments I was enclosing for each calf. Next time I will use Pony Express...it will be faster.

I would use the online service but They only use paypal not credit cards. I have had bad experience with paypal allowing someone else( I believe a paypal employee) to open a second account in my name and rack up charges. So I will not use the online because of it.

I haven't had that problem in the past, Mike, but I'm glad you brought it up. Frightening what's going on with identity theft, isn't it? If someone wants my identity badly enough, they can have my bills too.

Nope, I use a credit card every time. I input credit card information fresh every time...you don't need a PayPal account.

Gale,
The last 3 batches of calves I have registered using the on-line registration and PayPal have failed. They could not link my amount owed and the payment address.
In each case, I emailed Jill Delaney. She said it happens. She offered to send me an invoice to make payment the first time. That worked well. I got an email from PayPal saying that the American Dexter Cattle Assosiaction had sent me an invoice. I opened the email, clicked on the link inside, and made my payment. All seemed to be fine and the registrations showed up online in a week or so.
The second time went the same way. Wouldn't work if I followed the directions, so I asked Jill Delaney to send me an invoice again. It worked like the first time.
The third time, last Thursday, went the same. Again I got Jill Delaney to send me an invoice. This time I watched very closely every step of the Pay Pal process and discovered that the payment was being sent to Chuck Daggett.
I hope it works.
The new registrations haven't showed up on the on-line registry.

Gene, yes "it happens" but three times?
The last email I received from the registrar said it was okay if I send paperwork direct to her in Texas; she said that the BOD wanted to keep the Missouri address and the registrar thinks the BOD doesn't want her to have the responsibility of lost mail. She kindly offered to pull my registrations and process them quickly if I needed them for a show; I explained that I just want them registered so I can advertise and sell, that's all.
It is very irritating that they haven't gotten this process right. Payment being sent to Chuck Daggett? That's ridiculous.

if that is correct Kirk then they need to update their site. It states "Only use this option if you are also making a payment online with (paypal)" dextercattle.org/registration.htm

if that is correct Kirk then they need to update their site. It states "Only use this option if you are also making a payment online with (paypal)" dextercattle.org/registration.htmMost all businesses that take credit cards online, go through a technical banking credit card service that connects your credit card payment to the business, but keeps the credit card information all secure and secret and doesn't store it or share it. Paypal actually is in two separate businesses... Business 1. Their regular paypal business where they store your credit card information and they help you make payments (that's the one that both you and I are a little nervous about) Business 2. Their separate service of NOT storing credit card info, but just facilitating the one-time transaction of helping you pay the business for your transaction via your credit card. Both options are via paypal, but paypal doesn't store your personal and credit card information with the second option and you don't need a paypal account. I agree with you that it would be more clear if the ADCA system said: "When you use this option, you can Pay via your paypal account, or pay directly via your credit card without a paypal account"

To follow up, my package did arrive in Jill's hands (in Texas) on Tuesday, as she thought it would. Although I didn't request special handling, she registered the three calves right away and complimented me on sending all the testing information for them. Two of them have photos on the Pedigree Finder (OTF's Echo and OTF's McCall). I have to wait for the rain to stop to get a few more photos. Then I'll get our website updated and, hopefully, generate some interest before the AGM!
