Looks like the Traditionally Horned Dexter Group has come to their senses and is now accepting lovely traditional horned animals that have documented polled ancestors.
FACEBOOK JUNE 4, 2015
Judy Sponaugle: "Legacy HAS encouraged breeders to preserve the descendants of the imported horned cattle including Lucifer. Lucifer breeders wish to have their own preservation/ horned category . . . . and they are discussing it now."
Michael Foor-Pessin: "Good morning, Just thought I would share the latest numbers from our growing inventory. Thus far we have accounted for 344 traditionally horned Dexters belonging to 24 breeders. The breakdown is as follows: 255 traditional, 20 legacy, and 69 horned Lucifer."
Lucifer of Knotting has a documented polled Angus ancestor from the 1960's or so
That's NOT a problem at all since ALL dexters come from non-dexter backgrounds, but we need to be consistent. If you allow horned Dexters with polled ancestors, you need to be consistent.
So I assume that means that horned descendants of Saltaire Platinum will also be accepted in the Traditionally Horned Dexter Group as long as they are well selected for traditional horned traits.
That makes sense to me and anyone else who understands genetics.

See how the categories are broken down? Traditional. Legacy. horned Lucifer. Yes, I see that "Horned Lucifer" is a category that is 100% fully acceptable to the Traditionally Horned Dexter group, even though "Horned Lucifer" animals all descend from a recorded polled Angus in the 1960's or so. So, we could easily add another category of "Horned Platinum" descendants and they should all be fully acceptable in the Traditionally Horned Dexters group, just like "Horned Lucifer" is fully acceptable in the Traditionally Horned Dexters group. and when we import 20 new polled bulls from the UK and Australia, then we could add their horned offspring and have 20 additional categories of Traditionally Horned Dexters: Horned Lucifer Horned Platinum Horned Sam Horned John Horned Harry Horned Jack Horned Bill Horned Martin Horned etc.. etc.. etc.. etc.. etc.. etc.. Oh, and you'd have to have scores of combo categories where an animal descends from two or more of these bulls... that's a lot of possible combinations and that's a lot of categories.... Or we could just have a category that simply says "Horned", as we already do have in the ADCA.

I don't know where you are getting your info, there has been no determination of who's "IN" or who's "OUT" yet, that I've seen. I think you are jumping to conclusions, the categories specified were the reporting that Carole got from breeders, not any determination, just data. Don't fret over conjecture, yet.
And you keep saying , "as they do in the ADCA": You are happy with them , Stay Happy. Don't be concerned about whiners and crybabies who care about the extinction of a couple hundred year old breed. You have what you are breeding for and that's Okay.

Michael Foor-Pessin, leading the Traditionally Horned Dexter group says: "we have accounted for 344 traditionally horned Dexters belonging to 24 breeders. I've got a huge pasture full of dexters.... They're in less danger of going extinct, than ever before. There are far more dexters today, than 25 years ago. Please give me a Detail LIST OF TRAITS that you fear are going extinct so we can help save them.... I can't help you save any lethal genes, but I'll help you save most anything else.
