You need to get some of those beautiful dwarf cattle in the photos. . . . . like the ones that founded the breed and on which the first breed description was written. Judy

By the way, one of those three pictures above is a direct daughter of Saltaire Platinum and the other two are grandchildren of Saltaire Platinum. If someone based their traditional horned dexter herd on animals like these 3 dexters, they shouldn't be excluded from being able to say that they have traditional horned dexters.
My point is that having Saltaire Platinum on the pedigree should NOT be a factor in determining whether a dexter has a traditional phenotype or not. If I was trying to preserve traditionalism, I'd form a little group that could examine photo's of "Traditional" type dexters, and give feedback to breeders...
Imagine traditionalists submitting photo's and videos and getting feedback saying "Select for shorter ears" or "select for a more dished face"... That's the only way to preserve a phenotype.... pedigree selection won't maintain traditional phenotypes in the long haul.
