Richard has called and requested I forward this to the Directors, as he is
having difficulty with his computer and phone lines.
I agreed to send it for him.

Dear fellow directors.
As a few of you know i do a iot of management consulting for both public
and private organizations. My academic background of MBA and the fact
r=-, that I have opened and operated 16 successful businesses has resulted in
the expertise to do this work. My hourly rate is $250 per hour. I will give
you some thoughts based on my observations and charge you nothing.
About a year ago I was hired by a local board to make recommendations
that would result in a complete turnaround for an organization. The
company had been mismanaged for quite a while and there were
significant problems. After analyzing the financial records and talking to
many people in the company! made my recommendations which were:
1. Replace the President with new a person that has better humane
reiation skiiis.
2. Replace the financial officers immediately and have a complete audit
done.
3. Have someone within your ranks serve as a temporary CEO/President
for six months.
4 Develop a new mission statement that reflects current market trends
5 Focus on marketing as the most important part of you business
operations
6. Make sure that no one person is the only person in charge of an
activity.
The board could not understand number 6 and I explained to them that in
any organization there needs to be checks and balances. It's not a matter
of trust or the late of it's a matter of making sure that communications
take place and that things are done correctly. When only one person has a lot
of power it's a bad thing.
I am new to your organization but I have to tell you that as a management
consultant I would suggest the same six recommendation to this
organization. Sometimes a change in leadership and personnel is a good
thing. It is obvious that the ADCA needs new people with new
perspectives. It can be hard to do but sometimes you need change.
Incidentally ,the company I referred to above has since hired a new
president. He has replaced a few people. The sales and profits last year
were the best ever. They have asked me to be on a monthly retainer to
monitor their ongoing progress. I would love to but just don't have the
time. I am retired I think. Life is fun if you don't take things to seriously
isn't it.
