Every one is home in Mercer county Ohio. Had a safe trip and a pleasent vist at Someday Maybe Farms in Forestville N. Y. To see this many Traditional dexters on one farm is a sight to see. We brought home the following Chautauqua Florrie and her 2 week old dun hiefer , Schea, Karel, Mariam. After the 7 hr ride home the 2 older girls were more than ready to exit trailer if I understand correctly they have been pasture cows for 3 yrs. We locked ours up for the night and allowed them to have 3 acres to settle down in. After a few minutes of releasing a lot of energy they started grazing and checking out the area. By 8:30 the older girls and calf were laying in the 2 ft. grass resting and it was a relief to see. Plan to put temp. electric fence up fri. night in a area for them and release ours in a seperate area to allow everyone to adjust over next 10 - 15 days and then start mixing them and hopfully over time Shea and Florrie will become the doctile dexters the rest are. This makes 6 traditional horned here now and that will be a great start I hope with Breens AI here and others availlable. Its getting light out and I better make sure they are still here.
Congratulations on your new arrivals!! So glad you all had a safe trip. You'll have to post us some pictures now that everyone is getting settled. And Yes, they are beautiful

Thanks guys. You are right Mike 2 hr. sleep in 2 days dont cut it at my age. The Dexters were showing thier stress to. They sure got out of the trailer fast and they did settle down well and doing great.
Those animals you added to herd from Shaun are beautiful! Right on the heels of losing the Old Orchard herd it is beyond painful to watch the disbursement of Chautauqua.
