Our forcast does not have over 2 days for rest of month with rain forcast and they are only 20 - 30 %. But that can change by the hour lately. Hay man says go get H and 8n with wagons ready and be there to help as much as possible over next week. With my spinal surgury he said I can drive and load some but WE ARE MAKING HAY !!!

watch the forecast closely I find the tv weather men tend to forcast what they think people want to here. Then as it gets closer they will start adding the rain back in. They do the same thing in a drought they predict rain and then start removing it from the forecast as it gets closer. I have found weather underground to be more accurate than tv. I am hoping to do some more hay next week.

What great luck! It's about time we got some haymaking weather. Dexters are easy keepers, and I've had a few that I claimed they could live on just air to eat, but I wouldn't want to put them to the test this winter.
I'll be cutting tomorrow morning. How much I cut depends upon how bad it hurts to ride the tractor and how much I trust the weathermen.
Mike, a few years back someone did a study of how often the weather service was right when asked if it would rain the next day. National Weather service was second, with 40% right. The Farmers' Almanac won, with 42% right. Hey, the Almanac is published a year ahead of time!

We all got together and got equipment ready. Boss say probably cut thrus. due to fields still too damp. Most of the alfalfa has died so will be grass and timothy hay. Gene I stand corrected always said wish I had a job were I was right 50% of the time and still get paid . Now its 40%. We use Accu Weather they seem to as close as anything.

I got a 4 acre field cut, then started on a 10 acre field. Of course the sickle mower broke. Lost a tooth. Went home, put in a new tooth, riveted it in and went back to cutting. Broke again! This time it knocked out 3 teeth. One hour later I was cutting again. Finished just as the sun was setting.
I think it was the blackberry and rose bushes that broke the mower.
It could have just been the heavy grass. It is really heavy. I'll probably get a lot of square bales. Maybe twice as many as I have storage for. I'll have to alert a few people to stand by to haul my excess bales away.

We may actually have a full week with out rain almost unbelievable. 4 full days and counting. Still tracking in fields even with the smaller tractors but things are improving every day.
