After Dexterfarm stated his amount of hay usage I began to investigate and found the following. Hay requirement Univ. of Wisc. Cows 2 / 3.5 % of body weight per day. Lactating or milk cows 4 / 5 % of body weight per day. I figured cows at 600 # x 5% = 30 # a day or 1/2 bale. We also give about 1 # of sweet feed in winter too. So 4 cows , 2 calves x 150 days x 1/2 = 450 60 # bale. Am I missing anything here guys ?
