I've never tried it with the cows.
I do feed my chickens bread in the morning, however -- followed by oatmeal and leftovers (veggies, salad). They've even gotten cooked hamburger -- I don't tell too many people about that -- but they LOVE it. When I first did it, I wondered if there would be little tiny T-Rex's in the eggs, LOL! Oh well, I guess everybody knows now.

I once sold some ducks to a poultry fancier, who showed his birds. I delivered the ducks. I was shocked to see all sorts of foodstuffs scattered around his yard. All the things we would throw in the garbage, he let his birds eat. Produce, bread, table scraps, you name it. By the time I left, a large portion of the scraps had disappeared. I learned not to waste food scraps. Birds will eat almost anything. I always feel a little funny when I give them chicken scraps, but the birds clean everything edible off of the bones without a complaint. I discovered that Dexters and goats are not overly fond of "Butter Bread", or any that says it's made with buttermilk. Not even nursing calves.
