13 years ago I had a 4 leval fussion on my neck and broke 3 out of 4 2 years ago. Last Dec. I had to have another operation and this time had all 8 levals fussed with 8 plates front and two rods on back of neck with a second lower back operation in the future. I have never come back totally from the Dec. opperation (in my opinion) . The pain has been slowly getting worst. Went to our family doctor yesterday and it appears that I broken at lest 2 out of the 8 back fusions you can acually feel them moving. Now its back to Neoro surgeon with hopes of a repair. We have been talking with a realiter on selling our buisness and it seems that will need to happen now. Please I am not winning just informing. Nancy and I knew this day may come we (or I) was praying it would not be this soon. If you Pray please do so.
Thanks Dave and Nancy Salway

Wow, this is not good news. I understand part of what you describe. Any kind of back or spinal problems and surgery is scary. I don't know the answers and don't know what to say, except that I will be thinking of you and hoping for the best for you and your family. Please let us know what's going on as you are able.

Dave,
You will be in my prayers.
If you can think of anything more I can do to help, ask.
Keep us informed, please.

I'm so sorry to hear you're having such a difficult time. You're in our prayers, and when the operation takes place will pray for a speedy and successful recovery.

Told the ladies at church the only way God can fix this is with a 7 ft. deep hole. They said they were married too and understood.

Just a update. 8 more days and should have final verdict . Have had so many x rays and mri I have to be glowing . The only test that I hate is the inner and outer nerve test. They test by inserting a needle with a current in to the nerves and increase the current and depth until the nerves react. This is not a medical explination but my laman one. This was the fourth time I have had it done and each time is worse.

About all I can say after Neo Doc visit is !@#!@@#. Will have Cat scan with differant movements of head, too many broken screws and metal for M R I . Tried to change docs. but does not look possible with all the hardware done. So neck brace , 20 - 30# limit (as if that can happen ) meds. disability, and prayers. I vented to the Dexters and goats for a hour last night it helped me but I am not sure they cared !

I'm sure they did care. They have special empathy for our moods.
Hang tough, Dave. You have my support.

And mine as well! Even if you don't want to, please try to abide by the 20-30# limit, etc. Do you have any help with the work available?

Sorry to hear this Dave. I know it's hard to follow the restrictions sometimes, but think about the little things you can do to ease your workload somewhat, as well as finding somebody who might be interested in helping you around the farm. Give them the opportunity to earn a calf or two every year while they learn about raising cattle. I can assure you that 20 year old Hans could have hoisted square bales all day long, and woke up the next morning like nothing happened, but the current Hans would be pretty beat up after an hour, and groaning for the next week every move I make. That's why they invented round bales and front end loaders on tractors!

Thanks guys. We just finished mouting a walk through loder on the 8n two weeks ago and it is a blessing. we can move our hay and feed very easily now. All my equipment is pre 1950. I do like it all we need is fuel ,spark and baisic maint. and it works. Getting the hay here this year was me not everyone else they whanted to do it but no I knew better. It is not just the hay the ride I took with Lucy our buisness and ect. They are bringing the bed and breakfast here and stacking it for us (bailed corn stalk). Believe it or not driving can be the worst the twisting and turning. I should not even be driving with brace on we have not asked insurance or local police and really dont want to be will soon due to liability. Hans you own a buisness and around here our unemployment is at 4% and with 6% of the people not even whanting to work crap. We are tring. Gene that comment on hanging in there reminds me of the cat in the stool some days a person feels like you have one claw on the rim and your tail in the stool trap and the next feel like you have your chest out of the stool not ?

So sorry to hear this Dave. We've had back surgeries/problems in the family. Painful and very frustrating to live with. Please know you are in our prayers and as Gale said, try to take care of yourself and not lift too much.
And venting is always good. My dog/Dexters are always my best listeners.
