I just got word that the calf I had committed to buy was born and it is a heifer!
The calf comes from Hannah Short at Hidden Creek Farm. It is the daughter of Paradise Tullamore dew and Jams Loree Sith.
Tullamore Dew is a son of Windridge Noelly and is half brother to Brenn. Sith is the daughter of Rainbow Hills Ivanhoe, one of my favorite non-Windridge bulls. I have been trying to incorporate some Ivanhoe blood in my herd for a long time.
The calf doesn't have a name, yet. Hannah is very good at picking names.
I had a great cow with Ivanhoe blood but she was A1/A2 and couldn't seem to give me an A2/A2 heifer. That one detail is why she isn't here.
I had another great little heifer with Tullamore Dew blood, but my injury last year forced me to sell her.
I'm excited with the thought of going to pick this new calf up in 5 or 6 months. I wish I could bring her home quicker.
I am slowly rebuilding my herd after selling over half of my breeding stock. Bambi and Bambina are due in the middle of December and Eve is due in early January. Add the new calves they give me to the heifer I'll be getting from Shaun Lord and I will have my herd back up to strength.
About time, too. The pasture grass has been phenominal this year and we'll be going into cold weather with lots of stockpiled grass, plus an overstock of hay.

I am glad for you Gene. We have two due this month yet. It seems the waiting is the had part not ? Hope my issues dont force me to butcher or sell yet. Have two to butcher one this next month and one next spring. Good luck.
