Glad for you. Yes, we are getting rained on also, and I'm thankful that it's somewhat warm (61* F). There's nothing worse than a downpour when it's in the 30s or 40s!

A fair bit of rain and windy here today and tomorrow. We didn't really need the rain, and this time of year when it does it takes forever to start to dry out again. It has been fairly mild out, but will cool down later today into the 30's and 40's (Gale...lol). I think the cows know when it's going to get yucky out, last night at feeding they were very interested in what I had to bring them. Just like my collarbone used to ache a day before we got rain or snow. And no, not when I was old, I was in my early 20's when that happened! That was one of my first lessons about how older people really were very wise and should be respected...lol I think it was Mark Twain: "At 18 I couldn't believe how little my father knew, and by 28 I couldn't believe how much my father learned in just 10 years"

Hans, I never turn down rain, NEVER! It may inconvenience me and make a mess, and I curse a lot when that happens, but I know that (1) I have no control over it and (2) eventually it raises the water table and that keeps things going (I think).
You are absolutely correct that "older people really were [are] very wise and should be respected." I consider myself old, so you should not laugh at me for cringing at rain in 30-40* temps. I watch for tucked in tails (donkeys and cows) and then I know they're uncomfortable. If I could provide hot cocoa and cable TV for my animals, I would. (Now you can laugh!)
I love the Mark Twain quote by the way.

It was so cold here today that I had to roll my sleeves down. 70 degrees! We got a total of .7 inches for the two days of rain. The pond level had been falling and a new rock was peeking up about an inch. Now it's only poking up about 1/2 inch. If this keeps up the pond will fill up and overflow. Only a couple more feet to go!

After last weeks heavy rain, there is ZERO rain forecast here for the next several days. Nothing but sunny skies and 70 degree high temperatures...woo hoo! I sure could use these few days to get some things done around the farm. It's hard to believe we're into November already it's so nice out. I'll take this until Thanksgiving, and then it can snow

Hold the snow a few days after Thanksgiving. I have a new heifer due to travel from upstate New York on the 28th.
