Those who were in Dexters in 2004 will remember that the split was related to the majority directors attempt to remove Rosemary Fleharty from her position of power. On the day that Rosemary discovered an ADCA member of leadership had instigated a police investigation, she uttered a comment to the President at the time which reflected the emotion that she would resign her position before having her life and job upended by the power struggle. It was a comment based in fear and frustration, was related to the board members, but Rosemary Fleharty never submitted a resignation. The board insisted that her verbal comment was sufficient and proceeded to remove her by any means they could devise.
In November, the Director of Region 9 submitted a written notice of resignation to the ADCA board and the members of the region were notified. There was some confusion as to how the new Director would be determined relating to remarks in his email to members of the region and nominations were solicited. It was first thought there would be nominations and a vote, and then some members were advised this would not be the case, rather, ADCA would appoint a Director for the region. In recent days, I am informed, a member has questioned whether this "appointment" has been determined and accomplished, as new Directors become active on January 1 of the year after their election. The member was advised that no action would be taken as to a Director for the region until the resignation was "official".
Another example that ADCA makes rules, changes rules, or acts according to the own interests and not to the interests of the members that support the organization.
You might guess there is more to the story. Pace is a virtue so I am told.
