Our family tradition is black-eyed peas and cornbread. My grandmother told us that you "eat poor on New Year's Day and eat rich the rest of the year."

We did the shrimp New Year's Eve with Mom and Dad (my fam tradition). But I have to admit (I am a bit ashamed) but we didn't do the sauerkraut for Hubby's this yr. We didn't have any; and we were tied up moving/haying cows. Plus I really don't like it. Hopefully the one will be enough luck to get by on. LOL
