Coldest day of the year, amd maybe of the winter with the wind factor. Like many Dexters before her Jitsy, who has drooped like the neck of a cowl sweater for six weeks decided to give up on the hold out.......and calved her first baby bull. It seems they purposely wait until they have the worst possible weather. Stocky little dwarf with heavy coat of shiny black fur. jitsy has such pretty babies.

I did not take my phone out with me. I had to put out hay a day early and do some other chores and It was cold out there! I thought for 2 seconds of going in for the phone and taking pics but warm house and drink won over cute pic.

Ain't that the truth of it Judy. Glad to hear the little guy is doing good. Hopefully this new weather pattern moving in will be here for a while.

Mike, He is doing well. I am hoping his sire his Te Baisteach . . . that is who I kept with Jitsy, but that is not a given. Tailhairs are pulled and off to the lab tomorrow.

Here is Jitsy. She has what *I* call a "Dexter" phenotype and udder. Has anyone noticed how the udders have changed with the modern imports? I was looking at some udders of cows shown on FB as being "dairy" lines. The udders appear very Jersey/dairy cattle types. A couple looked like blown-up balloons attached beneath the cows. Just like the phenotype which was unique. .. . . I believe the udders were as well. Look at the early photos and see if you agree with me? Judy

her daughter is starting to look like Jitsy. She is also starting to tame down. If I can get my hands on her before she walks away she will stand quite a while for scratches. I will try to take some pictures but weekend temps are suppose to hit 60 = muddy mess here.

Judy, One of the things I most noticed at the show in VA last summer was the udders. The whole animal was different but the udders really stood out. They almost looked like Holstein, not at all like a Dexter.
