Big night here last night. Triu Inion of Paradise gave us her first calf. Introducing Knobley Judith Triu. Mom and calf are doing great. We've been blessed with 3 beautiful little girls this yr. All sired by our Traditional Red Bull Macklynn. One black, one dun, and now a little red. I am so excited!

What luck! Now you have matching bookends. Traditional reds!
Not many Traditional red pairs around.
Judith? I like it.

Congratulations Karrie. If she's short we want her here to go along with our Traditional reds!

Maybe this is the year of the heifer and I will break my bull streak.

Another rarity added to the preservation effort! Thanks for SHARING! You are most certainly a blessing to the effort Karrie! I think there are likely less than 10 animals or so in the US that are red . . . . that do not descend from the upgraded imported bulls.
There were red cows in the early imports but by the 1950's there are only a few animals we can identify as carrying red. In the late 1970's Sandi Thomas linebred her bull, Marnell's Black Magic to a daughter and the offspring was red. Sandi asserted she had the only red Dexter cows in America. They were few in number and sadly she imported a son of Lucifer to continue breeding for red, thereby outcrossing most all of her traditional lines via Lucifer. Shortly thereafter Rex Kramer linebred animals in his Beerex herd and Beerex's Red Baron Brian became a second line of red Dexters that descended from Yom Kippur. Red Baron Brian was added to the Rainbow Hills herd and little Judith can trace her red back to this herd. Ms. Fermoy as another red cow whose pedigree could be traced to the red that descended from the Peerless herd.
These lines were all but extinct when Legacy set out to alert breeders of the potential loss of these bloodlines. Now we have Gene, and Karrie, and Craig and Hans doing a great job working to increase the numbers! Spread the word! The more the Dexter merrier.
I love the pic Karrie.

Thanks everyone!! She's a little treasure for all of us, and really cute too. We got to watch her being born. The whole thing only took about 15 min, and the little girl was up nursing in no time. I think you can all figure out who she was named in honor of.
