Saturday is the big day for Hannahbelle

Hannah Short separated Hannahbelle from her mother and weaned her. She was ready to bring to Paradise Farm last Saturday, but the weather forecasters predicted foul weather with snow, so I stayed home and worked in the garden.

I don't intend to let anything stop me this weekend. I'm ready for her.

The trip was cancelled!

I picked up an infection and sore throat. The doctor told me not to go. Just as well, for the medicines she prescribed blurred my vision.

Hannahbelle finally came home. We got her on Sunday and made it home before dark. She spent the night in the corral. I pulled her tail hairs and wormed her.

Next morning I let the rest of the herd into the corral with her. Soon they went out into the pasture and ran and ran and pushed and shoved and butted heads. Finally they calmed down and I was able to get a picture.

She is out of Jams Lorene Sith (Judy's breeding) by Paradise Tullamore Dew (My breeding, Brenn's half brother).

Hannahbelle brings Cool Hand Luke of Dog Run blood on her maternal side, mixed with the Windridge blood.

She is here to replace one of the great cows I was forced to sell when I got hurt. She is the last one. She brings my little farm up to its full stocking rate.

Now it's time to sell some of the Windridge and Fermoy calves to make room for the next crop.
