Any one here stop at weigh stations when hauling cattle. I never have but now with a bigger truck and trailer do I need to? I looked up the regulations and it says anything over 10000 # must stop. Heck I am over that empty. I did some google searching and get no straight answer. Found several who had tried calling the dot in the states and got a different answer with every one they talked to. Most people just said they go right on by and never been pulled over.

Ohio is a 10000 list but only on commercial vehicle . I would not worry as long as you are not hauling for money in Ohio . If you bring U S 30 across only weigh station for Indiana and Ohio is about 6 mile on Ohio side and it is usually closed . From us ( I am 12 mi. south ) I have never stoped getting to Mansfield . You have directions from 30 to the fairgrounds Ok?

I see it looks like the fairgrounds are right off of 30. We will be coming in late Thursday no idea what time. I dont know if we will get stall assignments ahead of time or not but I will have to find out where we are. I dont know if any one will be there Thursday night to tell us where to go or not when we get in.

what is 30 like from Chicago to Mansfield? Looks like a divided highway. Is there a lot of stops on it? would prefer with driving that much distance not to have to many stop lights in towns or I could loose a lot of time.

Dont worry about time you get in Thur. night it is a late night and we camp beside the building . If you can get to 30 by 69 south somehow you may have 2 - 3 stop lights to Mansfield . 30 before Fort Wayne In. is a bear . 10 mile streachs can have 4 - 6 lights . 80 - 90 toll road would be non stop and just North of Mansfield but expensive and lots of policing . Good Luck and be safe .

I'd avoid the Ohio Turnpike if you can. I hate that road...as Dave says, so many State Troopers and the road isn't even all that nice of a road given how much it costs to drive on it, especially with a trailer. It's probably well worth the added stops and traffic to go on the free roads, especially if they are primarily divided highways.

looks like in Chicago I will have to hit a toll for just a few miles so it should be to expensive. the only other option is to take 30 through Chicago heights. Never been there but guessing that is not a place I want to be.

Our last trip to Min. fishing with truck and 17' boat we went 30 to 69 to 80/90 then north . If my memory is right I think under $25 on toll road . YOU DO NOT WANT TO TRAVEL 30 WITH A TRAILER AROUND CHICOGO UNLESS YOU ARE BRAVER THAN I AM . If you reverse milage may be more but alot better time .

There are two areas like that. Valpo and about half way to Fort Wayne but it seems worst .
