A couple months ago we lost our farm dog Daisie. It was a very sad time for all of us, especially for my mother who dearly loved her.
Thankfully after a long search we found Duchess, a 10 wk Dutch Shepherd mix. This is a new breed for us, but when I saw her litter available at the local shelter it was perfect. A young farm dog looking for a farm.
She's a cutie. Such a sweetheart and a real cuddler. As you can see with Mom. They are described as loyal, obedient, watch dog, not aggressive, a good with animals and children. I really like her. Now we just have to grow up a little bit.

It's so nice to hear about your new dogs and so sad to think about the passing of your old dogs.
Why can't dogs and people have the same lifespan?

You are so right Gene. That's the only problem with dogs. Every time I lose an ancient dog, I promise myself I won't get another, just to spare myself the loss.
Fortunately I have kids to bring me their dogs to adopt as their situations change! I haven't had a dog I'VE picked myself in a long time.
I could get a Tortoise, and pay my kids back for the next hundred years, but they are just not as snuggley !
Good for you and your Mom, Karrie!

Oh, she's getting spoiled. It's hard not too. She's got toys and treats, and my little dog Millie (10 lb) to play with. Millie wasn't too sure about her in the beginning but since she learned she can outrun her when she gets too rough, they're best buds. Everywhere I go now I have 2 dogs "helping".
We've always had them too Donna. Best company in the world.
