We are wrapped.
Just received test results for our fav little 11.5 mth old. Homozygous A2,E+ and now homozygous dun carrier.
Mum was dun so knew one copy was there but after speaking with UCD it was mentioned that we didn't test for dun on this little one.
It just didn't cross my mind that our little red girl's sire was a dun carrier so could have shared this with her.
That is going to be so helpful in our line breeding program.
That gives us two red girls now who are double bangers with one a Chondro carrier and the other is not. So many short-cuts have become available. Just thought I would share. So excited.

Great news. Now you can really kick your breeding program into high gear. With so many homozygous pairs in the makeup, it should be fairly easy to pick breeding pairs and successfully predict the results.

Great Donna!! Testing IS fun. I had not thought of it that way before. ... I know there are times I sit on pins and needles waiting for results and excited when they arrive. ( A few times disappointed). How many breeding animals are in your herd now. ( And. . . . your uploads are nearly done. Nearly. The ancestral files are slow but shouldn't be much longer. Once they are all in . . . offspring will be easy!

Hi Judy. With the three new heifers arriving in the last fortnight that brings our herd total to 30. 15 girls are of breeding age BUT we have decided our eldest girl will possibly retire from motherhood at only ten years, especially if she has number 8 heifer. We will then have 5 daughters who need to step up. Mum is one of our two template girls so she is not going anywhere. Fingers are crossed we eventually get another grandson of both template girls who is BD1 free. Then we will ask her for one more.( She is a dwarf and so is the only grandson we do have). We have been in the process of re homing 11. 5 boys and 6 girls. As lovely natured as they are, they will most likely not give us what we need. And two heifers who will be 2 yrs at end of year, we may hold off until next year to breed them. They are 3/4 sisters. Very important to us but one lost her mum at 3 mths of age to snake bite and it shows in her development. The girls are only a month apart. Jury is still out on that as the most developed girl is superb in conformation. Exactly what we want to establish. And I would love to see the half brother go to her and see if we are heading down the right track. Needless to say the whiteboard as been getting a serious workout again and my quality-controller (hubby) has been hard at it. A huge thank you for entering our herd. It is a massive job and we have greatly appreciated it. Our new homes are eager to be part of Legacy even though most are 'pet/house cow) with companion, homes. We are also finger-tapping waiting on the Kappa and Beta testing from UCD. So we will send these through to you as soon as they arrive How much is it to transfer ownership? And would you like this in an email since the site only allows USA or Canada at the moment?! .
